A thin, browning Bermuda lawn was stripped out and replaced with fresh Bermuda sod, with a river rock drainage channel along the side of the house. Done in two days.

Same side yard: thin, patchy Bermuda (left) and new sod with the river rock channel (right).
The problem: a lawn that had given up
The Bermuda lawn at this Waxhaw home had thinned out and browned, with bare patches in the side yard and around the patio, fire pit and outdoor kitchen.
Runoff along the side of the house added to the problem.
How we did it
- Remove the old lawn. We stripped out the thin, dead Bermuda.
- Prep the soil. The clay underneath was cleaned up and leveled for good sod contact.
- River rock channel. A rock drainage channel runs along the side of the house to manage runoff.
- Lay the sod. Fresh Bermuda sod, laid tight for full coverage from day one.

New sod gives you a full lawn right away. Get a free on-site estimate.
Why sod instead of seed?
Sod gives you a finished lawn the day it is installed and holds bare soil in place right away, which matters on clay that washes out easily. Seed takes much longer to fill in.
The finished lawn
The backyard and side yard are covered in even, green Bermuda again, and the rock channel carries runoff along the house instead of washing out the new sod.

Questions homeowners ask us
When is the best time to lay Bermuda sod?
Bermuda is a warm-season grass, so late spring through summer is ideal. It roots fastest in warm weather.
How soon can I walk on new sod?
Keep traffic light for the first couple of weeks while the roots take hold. We will give you watering and mowing guidance when we finish.
Why add a river rock channel?
It gives runoff from the roof and side yard a defined path, so water does not wash out the lawn or sit against the foundation.
